Construction resumes ...

It's been a couple of months since we've seen Tashiro-san and his family. They are the people who did most of the construction work on our new workroom downstairs, but once the weather became hot hot hot, he stopped coming, preferring to wait out the summer in his (air conditioned) home.

But autumn is now upon us, and today he and his wife reported for duty, ready to receive their next construction assignment.

Which was this:

That's our entranceway - the staircase going up to the second floor (which we use only for storage).

I gave him his instructions, and after answering his question, "Are you sure? You really want me to smash that out?" in the affirmative, started him off.

He set to work with a crowbar, and a couple of hours later, had got it to this point:

Seen from outside, the entranceway now looks like this:

Why are we doing this? Well, it wouldn't be any fun to explain it all up front, so let's just watch the photos as the work progresses. He'll be back on Sunday afternoon for the next stage.

But once we are done, the printers are going to be very happy, as a major source of frustration for them will be fixed!
