Haru ga Kita!

Posted by Dave Bull at 7:46 AM, September 20, 2010

Well, you all read the item on Bullfeathers about Boots-chan bringing over a guest today, and I mentioned that I caught a bit of video (just using the 'mini' video setting on my digital camera). Here we go ... Meet Haru-chan ...

I spoke to the owner this evening - when she came over to pick up Boots-chan, who had slept all afternoon on that cushion. She says the new one is a female, now nearly three months old, and is called 'Haru' (spring). She wasn't all that excited to hear that the two of them had been over here together, and I guess she's hoping the previous pattern - of 'their' cat spending so much time over here - won't be repeated.

But as we all know, people don't choose cats, cats choose people ... And my door is always open!

It's been quite a while since she was nice and black - couple of years, I guess. She is now quite an elderly lady; one eye is gone completely, she walks very stiffly, and her fur is kind of patchy (and a little bit smelly).

But she's still warm and friendly, and seems to be in no pain or discomfort at all. I wish she would come over more often, but I can understand the problem - she can no longer jump up onto the window sill (to leave their place). So the only time she is available to visit is when they are home, with the door open ...
