An Eye for Appreciating Woodblock Prints


I had been invited to participate in a panel discussion on 'washi'. Ichibei Iwano came down from Fukui to represent papermakers; wholesaler Sugihara-san was there to speak about the commercial aspects of the field, and I was chosen to represent the 'users' - the people using Japanese paper in the creation of other works. It was a well-organized and well-attended event, and came off very well.
