Tracing progress ...

Posted on January 4, 2012 [Permalink]

No, I don't mean 'tracing the progress', I mean 'progress of the tracing'!

Here's where I've got so far:

I 'lost' a few hours tracing time yesterday afternoon, because I went for 'a walk in the park'. Not for fun, for work! I have some ideas for the next print series - the one that will be starting up in April - and I needed to look at some things in Showa Memorial Park, a short train ride from here, to see if they would be useful in my planning ...

[Update: a few hours later ...]

[And this will be it for tonight ... not quite done ...]

I saw your first image on your computer screen.

Are you actually tracing?

And if so with what and on what?

Last time I tried an acetate transfer--tracing on acetate using an ink pen and attempting to transfer it using carbon paper onto my polished cherry block the carbon wouldn't transfer--the block was too smooth.

I know you print out your hanshitas with the laser printer but curious about what the master image is.

I seem to recall that Dave scans in the images he wants to trace and does the tracing in Photoshop (or some similar program) using a wacom tablet (or something similar).

I recognize the pose of the figure in the print so well. I do that move many times every day! Come to think of it, it's probably time for a stretch now...

Dave- Is this a self portrait-A Final pause in the mailing of the last print?

I have truly enjoyed the trip you took us on, can't wait to start the next journey.

Yes, that's definitely Dave's self-portrait. You can tell by the elbow patches. ;-)

Sorry for the late reply here ... kind of busy yesterday!

Here are links to a couple of previous RoundTable posts that show more detail about my hanshita preparation process on the computer:

the next journey ...

Patience please ... all will be revealed in good time. (It will have to be revealed to me first!)
