Announcing my $100,000-a-plate benefit dinner!

Posted on October 25, 2008 [Permalink]

"Hello, this is Tokyo woodblock printmaker David Bull. Every year at this time, I prepare a special package of one of my small woodblock prints, and offer it as a 'gift item'. But this year is a bit different - I am hosting a special dinner to kick off the gift print 'season'.

"We've all heard about those 'hundred dollar a plate' fundraising dinners, where you get a chance to rub shoulders with somebody notable, while at the same time seeing your money go to a good cause. I'm going to up the ante. I have a great cause - my woodblock printmaking activities - and I've arranged for a pair of very special guests for our dinner: Mr. Bill Gates, and his good friend Mr. Warren Buffett. But for only a hundred dollars a plate? No way. This is going to be a very exclusive dinner. There are only ten tickets available, and they will be a hundred thousand dollars each. All in aid of this very good cause."

To hear David announce the rest of the details of this event, watch this video(!), or visit the 'gift print' page with all the details here:

Dave, Who could resist such an entertaining offer? I guess you will just have to count me in, even if Bill and Warrie can't make it. I'll catch them next time. I was looking forward to the menu, though...

Dave... How could I resist such an eloquent invitation! Rubbing cyber-shoulders! How exciting! Can't wait to see the print.

Hi Dave,

What about the tickets that I already sold in the black market at 70 dollars each ? :-)

Take care,

José

I thoroughly enjoyed your clever pitch talk in this video - the more so since I trust that the opportunity of obtaining this wonderful leaping-carp print of yours for only twenty-five dollars WITHOUT having to rub shoulders with our dear friend Bill Gates is certainly an offer that no one in his right mind can - or should - resist.
