This one also, is taken from an Edo-era design, but from a bit of a different source than usual. Rather than reproducing a design that had been a single-sheet print, this time I selected a book page - this is the frontispiece from a late-Edo melodramatic novel.

It was designed by Yoshitoshi, and I can guess why I chose it ... it matched my living conditions in my Ome home at that time of year perfectly! A four-story building, in which the only heat source was a 500 Watt infrared bulb under the living room kotatsu table!
