'History' magazine : Foreigners carrying on Japanese crafts

If you have browsed through a number of these magazine articles from the 1990s, you may have noticed a pattern - 'Foreigner doing (something) in Japan'. Partly this is due to the 'zeitgeist' ... this theme was something that people of the day found interesting, so the media followed that need. But there is another factor explaining my frequent participation; one of the freelance photographers of the day - Mr. Kazuhiro Inoue - made a specialty of this theme. He had a double-sized Rolodex; one side filled with the contact information for magazine publishers, the other side for people like me 'Foreigner doing (something) in Japan' ... and for a number of years he made a very good living at the game!
