November 20

The second batch is done, and we shipped last Tuesday. Got started on the new carving, with a nice hard block.

A bit of action on the P/R side. A call came in from Fuji TV, wanting to know if I would agree to appear on a morning kid's show. They have some kind of feature that shows all kinds of people working, and they want to use me. They got my info from the guy who did the 'Gaten' story earlier this year. They're coming tomorrow morning for filming. About 'an hour or so', they say, so I guess it'll be a pretty short segment..

Patti Strait called back to say that the Tokyo Today story will be out soon, and to mention that she had talked with somebody at the Nihon Keizai Shimbun about me. This is the only major newspaper that has yet to do something on my project, and it would be nice to get some coverage there, especially for the exhibition. I sent off some newsletters, etc. to the contact person she mentioned, and we'll see what comes of it.

Not much accomplished over the last few days (kids off school for the Monday long weekend ...). Got the TV thing done today quickly and easily. It's going to be a two minute segment on a morning kid's show. Who knows, maybe one of them will see it and grow up to become a printmaker!

Got the 'Issho' back from Michiyo in the mail on Saturday, punched it into the word processor on Sunday, and Takayoshi now has it for proofreading. Called David Stones to get his permission to use one of his prints as illustration. No problem. Interesting to hear that he hasn't made a print in about half a year now, saying he's busy with the construction of their new room addition ...
