July 28 ~

July 28

A day off with the kids in the park, and 70 sheets wet in the evening, to make up the 100 sales copies, plus extras. Both of the last prints haven't made it with 60+60, and I've needed to run an extra 10 each time.

Spent the morning in the park with the kids (this weekend is the community kickball and softball tournament), and ran the sumi in the early afternoon. Then off to the pool. Summer holiday is great for the kids, but ...

Ran the colours on the 70 copies, with very few problems. I altered the blue colour a bit, making it a bit dirtier and 'older' looking. Prepared the hanshita for Minamoto no Toshi Yori Ason [2-7] and pasted it down, but didn't start carving. I've got a week left before going down to the country, and I think I'll spend it in printing back numbers. I'll take this block with me to Mie-ken, but will leave the printing tools behind. If I start carving now, I won't have enough to keep me busy for the two weeks, and will have to carry all the printing stuff with me. So, prepared some paper for Semi Maru [1-4], 40 sheets.

Sumi, no problems. There's still no way I can get this as smooth and deep as Matsuzaki-san's black, but at least it's smooth.

40 more sheets wet, for Chunagon Asatada [1-7] tomorrow.
