After my lesson, prepared 20 sheets for printing. Going to try 'ganryo' this time. Used Matsuzaki's way of wetting paper, brushing the water directly onto the sheets (3 at a time). It's much faster ...

Today was the graduation ceremony at the Hoikuen. After it was over, Himi and I headed for Tokyo, to Masayoshi Enogu ten. We bought the red and yellow pigments for Tenji Tenno. Also picked up some 'ore-zumi' (sumi seconds). (We then headed for Ikebukuro and bought a fax machine for Michiyo's translation/re-writing work). After the kids were in bed, printed the sumi-ban. Michiyo also phoned Kyoto to see what was happening on the blocks... maybe another week ... (I'll believe that when I see them!). It has now been three months since I put my order in to Shimano-san!

A combination translation/kids/printing day, rotating between activities all day. Quite a bit of trouble mixing the background yellow. It comes out either too green, or too brown. The red and the kimono are no problem. Carved a new block for the hat, eliminating the line down the center. Of the 20, I think 18 are OK. Side by side, nobody could tell them from Matsuzaki's copies.

Got a phone call from Kogado, the case maker. He says the 20 cases are ready, and he will be sending them out tomorrow. Yippee!

Picked up the photo enlargement from the film counter. Hmmm... It looks like it might do. The lines are a little blurry, but not too bad, considering that the negative is less than 10mm high, and the print is 366mm. We'll see...

Made a minogami hanshita from the print. After filling in details with a fine pen, it looks ready to go. Now, if only I had some blocks, to get started on the second print!
