The carving never really got going. I did the dozens of oval patterns on the drape and started the poem. It was just at this time that the English classes took over everything. New classes started in April, and I just never got around to working on the block.

Thinking that if I didn't get some work done on it soon, my interest would disappear, I took the block and tools to Mie-ken for the summer break. I never even opened the box! The kids river project, plus the box of books that I had taken, provided more than enough 'entertainment'.
