Here's an early morning shot from the upstairs window:
... and then from the other side - down at the river:
I've never - never - seen it like this here, and all the locals are saying the same thing. This much snow, and twice in seven days, this is a first for everybody ...
We all got straight to work (again, luckily this is happening on a weekend ...). See that little thing sticking up in the snow to the right of the cleared path?
It's a 600mm scale ... showing about 560 in depth.
That's 22 inches ... And I didn't particularly try and find the deepest spot, so I think we can safely call this a 2-foot storm.
And here we are, a couple of hours later. Looking from my driveway to the right:
... and to the left:
Here's Hamanaka-san, the lady that runs the noodle shop:
She says "I did this part all by myself!" (And if you believe that ... she has a bowl of noodles she would like to sell you ...)
And this is early Sunday AM, before we got started on the next round of clearing and widening ...
